Walter Savage is more than a bassist, he's a composer, vocalist and pianist. You

humor. Paul Chambers influenced him; Leroy Vinegar and Al McKibbons taught him
that in itself is enough of a thumbs-up. His last release "SOOTHES THE SAVAGE
BEAST" is a great sampling of his talent and sense of humor.

played with the greats in the Jazz World. In fact the albums he recorded for
Blue Note have been recently re-issued. Eddie Gale's muted trumpet work can be
heard in the SMITHSONIAN COLLECTION OF CLASSIC JAZZ with piano great Cecil
Taylor. He has recorded with Sun Ra, Larry Young and Elvin Jones and performed
with John Coltrane, Jackie McLean, Booker Ervin, Illinois Jacquet and many more.
This is an experience to see!

Donnay has toured for the past 3 years promoting her CDs "Bohemian" and "Soul

stations nationwide. Ms. Donnay has now come back to her first love ~ jazz ~ and
is working with legendary jazz producer Orrin Keepnews. Donnay's fiery style &
engaging presence have landed her gigs recently @ The Plush Room, Monterey Jazz
Festival, performing with the Dave Ellis Quartet. She is performing with her own
quartet for her first appearance at CLUB JAZZ NOUVEAU.

Smokin Records. BENNIE MAUPIN a native of Detroit and a veteran of the New York
scene of the 60's and 70's where he played stints with Horace Silver, McCoy
Tyner and Lee Morgan. He gained international attention as the bass clarinetist
with Miles Davis. Bennie moved on and became an integral part of the Los Angeles
Jazz Scene and more so on the international scene. JOHN B. WILLIAMS is known
throughout the industry as JOHN B. Currently playing with Nancy Wilson and
Michael Wolfe. John B. was a member of the Doc Severinsen NBC Tonight Orchestra;
the Arsenio Hall Show, where he started reciting poetry in addition to playing
the Bass. He has played and recorded with such notables as Hugh Masakela,
Freddie Hubbard, Count Basie, Louis Armstong, Dizzy Gillespie, Kenny Burrell,
Billy Cobham and Bobby Hutcherson. He also fronted his own band "Expectations."

Trombonist, Arranger, Composer, Educator and Producer. Wayne Wallace's history
in the Education field is very noteworthy. From San Francisco State, The Jazz
School, Stanford University and Workshop, Antioch College, UC Berkeley, San Jose
State and so many more camps, schools and clinics. His sideman credits are to
numerous to mention as is his discography. His last two recordings are THREE IN
ONE, this album runs the gamut in Latin styles and was also hear on another Bay
Area artists recording IN THE SPUR OF THE MOMENT, under the leadership of Steve
Turre. His sounds are warm, delicious, lyrical and very personal.

Billy Higgins influenced so many musicians, and his WORLD STAGE venue in
Southern California turned out groups like BLACK NOTE, B SHARP and Marcus Shelby
is also an alumnus. Smiling Billy Higgins was the most recorded drummer in the
history of Jazz. His love of the music is being continued by one of his close
friends and alumni Myron Cohen. Each time this group performs it is made up of

DARRYL ROWE

Alabama native Darryl Rowe feels it is no great mystery why he ended up singing
jazz: He loves jazz and has always been around it. Darryl has been a presence in
the San Francisco Bay area jazz scene for two decades, with appearances at
Keystone Korner, the De Anza Hotel and the Montreaux Jazz Festival in
Switzerland. He has worked with Woody Herman, Dexter Gordon, Sergio Mendez,
Bobby McFerrin, and Patrice Rushin. His voice moves easily from jazz standards
to R&B and soul stylings. "We The People" is a jazz project that brings together
the talents of an interesting blend of musical characters, headed by the velvety
tones of singer Darryl Rowe. |
